Not much is known about the history of Melantha. Legends say she is the youngest Esin, and one of the last to join in the founding of R-39, alongside Idris, who found her wounded in space. Her homeworld is gone, having succumbed to civil war and self-destruction, leaving few of her kind behind. Her kind are said to be artificially intelligent, a form of bio-synthetic life with advanced evolutionary capabilities. They no longer resemble their original forms, and she is said to be among the most human-looking in features, which evolved to be over her time spent with the citizens of Aurora Noctis. Early records of her influence depict her as a towering giant with membranous wings that gave off a slight silver glow and curved points to both ears. Her kind are said to have had an affinity for bat-like creatures, from which they drew physical inspiration.
Melantha picked Tenebris to be her new home, taking refuge in a crater shrouded in darkness. Now known as The Cradle of Grief. There, she powered down to heal herself for a hundred years. Upon waking, she began to build the Cathedral of Eternal Night, a sanctuary to honor the dead and harbor hope for the living. Though she welcomes citizens of R-39 to move to her unamed city, most decline. Tenebris is the darkside of a tidally locked planet, forever cast in darkness and behind the technology of other advanced colonies. It is an incredibly harsh conditions and an undesirable place to live. Melantha lived alone with the other survivors of her homeworld for several hundred years before hearing the emergency call of the SS Moros. She finds the Dregs of Humanity asleep and adrift in a derelict ship. The humans are frail, their magic signatures weak or unstable. The ship is listed in a manifest as Useless Stock. Melantha takes them back to Tenebris and wakes them, giving them the option to stay in Tenebris or move on to other colonies. The Dregs choose to stay. Together, they build Aurora Noctis, which is established officially in Cosmate 5804.
Melantha is the youngest Esin, and the most human in both nature and physical form. Her species is known to be morphic, taking on the image of those they live alongside, in a process known as Divine Integration. At the start of The Everlight Protocol, it is noted that is one of the four Esin who stayed behind during Core Independence Shift.
She can absorb radiation and channel it back into the space around her, manipulate it around her—an ability known as Cosmic Harmonization. This causes a constant flow of radiation around her, which leads to rapid growth and evolution of nearby life. Her ability is ranked as Ethereal. It is seen throughout history as a blessing and a curse.

In reality, her wings are far more ethereal in design, like translucent silk with thin threads of silver that connect neural nodes and biological tissue. Her ears have points that extend towards the back of her head, though more dainty than those in references. Her hair is silver white with a pink hue, often worn in a thick and detailed braid down her back. Her eyes a lavender with sparks of blue that appear when her programming flares up. Neural nodes map the hinges of her body (knuckles, knees, collarbones, shoulders, etc), a matte silver of ornate design. Though over 6’5″ when first found floating in space, she evolved to be the average height of those in Aurora Noctis, standing at 5’8″.
Melantha often wore glittering robes and evening gowns, with high split flare sleeves. She has never been seen wearing shoes, preferring to feel the terra of Tenebris beneath her feet. Her battle gear, made by The Radiant Path, is a crystalline shell of pure starlight trapped within a clear silica. Flexible and durable, a kind of conduit suit to help her channel her Ethereal powers more readily and stably. However, she refused to wear it, preferring pacifism to war.
