The R-39 galaxy was once a paradise, woven from dust and starlight by the Esin –  divine sentinels of metal and magic. They constructed sanctuaries where starborn humans thrived, their gilded cities powered by living technology and their Flux Arcana magic, which evolved everything it touched.

But now the Esin are gone, leaving behind technologies that no one knows how to fix. Vital systems fail, the citizens of R-39 are exposed to the wrath of its dying suns, and cosmic horrors stir from their sleep – starving in the starless deep.

The Astral Veil Empire turns a blind eye to it all, casting away warnings of the past and clinging to the remnants of a fading order, but Hael Astraeus remembers. He’s seen the fall of Flux Arcana during the Astaris Phenomena and the savage, greedy wars that tore the galaxy apart after the Esin left. He lost his family, his homeworld, his humanity. Yet, his deepest regret is failing to protect the Esin his ancestors vowed to safeguard: Melantha, the Divine Sentinel of Eternal Night.

When solar storms rip through R-39, spreading panic and civil unrest, Hael and his order of Dread Knights make their move. They steal a fragment of Everlight and journey to the irradiated ruins of Aurora Noctis to resurrect Melantha. In exchange for her unwavering guidance, they swear to avenge her and seek redemption for the starborn humans.

But when colonies are devoured by unseen terrors and the new discoveries of the system’s origins threaten to unravel all hope, citizens of R-39 must prove to Melantha they are worth saving. The choice is inevitable: unite under the last flickers of humanity and evolve, or perish in the cold, cruel darkness of space.
